Young green jackfruit is a popular ingredient when making vegan curries and stir-fries. Jackfruit is a tropical plant that grows in parts of Asia, and, if bought fresh, is very large!

Fresh jackfruit is sweet and ripe, however young green jackfruit has a neutral flavour, and firm, fibrous texture. The chunks of jackfruit preserved in brine are often used as a replacement for pulled pork due to the slightly stringy texture.

Young green jackfruit makes a great plant-based alternative when making tacos and slow-cooked stews.
