Tropical Sun molasses is a rich, dark syrup for cooking and baking. It’s a by-product of the sugar refining process. Use it to make gingerbread and dense fruit cake.
Molasses is much darker and less sweet than honey and golden syrup. It has an earthy, robust flavour with notes of burnt sugar and caramel. It pairs beautifully with chocolate and dried fruit in cakes and steamed pudding.
You can also use molasses in savoury recipes. It’s fantastic for glazing gammon and sweetening homemade barbecue sauce. You will often find it in American recipes for pulled pork and Boston beans.
