Baharat Asani is a fragrant spice blend that originates from the Middle East. You will find it in many recipes from Turkey, Lebanon and North Africa. It’s often used as a dry rub for beef and lamb.
Baharat has a rich, earthy flavour that is similar to garam masala. The blend contains warm spices like cumin, ginger, cinnamon and coriander. Rosemary and oregano give it a wonderful aroma. Use it sparingly - a little goes a long way.
Combine baharat Asani with olive oil to make a Middle Eastern marinade. It’s delicious on red meat but also complements fish and poultry. Try rubbing it into skewers of beef or lamb before grilling. Serve with flatbreads, salad and a creamy garlic sauce.
